DramaSoc

The University of Canterbury Drama Society Incorporated

We're a student society, that doubles as a theatre company, with almost 100 years of experience running shows, festivals, and general hi-jinks. We aim to produce quality shows, promote a safe space to give theatre a go, and support drama and performing arts in the wider Christchurch community.

DramaSoc UN-MIC-ED

  • The Living Room University Dr Christchurch, Canterbury, 8041 New Zealand (map)

Are you looking for an opportunity to demo your premier audition monologue, to put the 'God' in 'The Godfather', to thoroughly slaughter some Monty Python, or to escape from study for a couple hours? Then you're in the right place.

On Saturday the 2nd of June, DramaSoc will be holding an Open Mic; only there'll be no mic, and it's not for stand-up...

Regardless, for 2 hours, the 'stage' will be open for anyone to come and perform monologues, duologues, and skits, up to 10 minutes long, in front of whoever comes along. Ultimately it's just a chill evening for drama geeks to geek out with other drama geeks.

Do It

If you're interested in participating, sign up by clicking the button below. Sign up is optional, but as the night is running on a first-in-first-served policy, it is recommended.

Watch It

If you're just looking to chill out and watch people have some dramatic fun; click the button below to head to our Facebook page and indicate your interest. This helps us to keep track of how many people are coming, and helps get the event out to more people.

There will be no props, costumes, or set available; aside from what's already in the space, and maybe a couple random things we'll bring from the DramaSoc container.
