DramaSoc presents: Moonfleece

  • DW1, Jack Mann Auditorium 53 Solway Ave Christchurch, Canterbury, 8041 New Zealand (map)

Coming to a stage near you (since you live in Christchurch and nothing is too far away), DramaSoc presents the New Zealand amateur premiere of Moonfleece, by Philip Ridley.

Moonfleece is an intense and thrilling exploration of memory and identity, with themes of contemporary resonance such as, suicide, racism, homophobia, populism, and how those in authority can distort truth and history.

Curtis has arranged a meeting in a flat of a derelict tower block. Years ago as a child, Curtis lived happily there with his family until his elder brother tragically died. Now, of course, Curtis has been seeing his brother’s ghost. With the aid of Gavin and Tommy (fellow members of the right-wing political party of which he is a leading figure) Curtis aims to find out why this ghost is haunting him. Things, however do not go as planned. There are two squatters occupying his abandoned family home, and one of them has a story to tell… a story that will change Curtis’s life forever.
